Grant was given to the project from Kazan RealSpeaker Lab for their product Realspeaker. This service uses video expansion technology: it achieves speech recognition through the analysis of the movement of a person’s lips.

The Kazan project RealSpeaker is funded on the technology of speech recognition and its transformation into a literal text, through the use of visual enhancements based on users’ lip movement. RealSpeaker supports 7 languages: Russian, English (American and British dialects), French, German, Chinese, Japanese and Korean. RealSpeaker is already a resident of the business incubator of Kazan’s IT-park and of the Innovation Centre Skolkovo. In December 2012, the project received the golden apple award for "Startup of the Year" by winning the nomination of "Best Innovative Startup". Microsoft’s seed grant will allow the company to continue testing and improve the product.

The Microsoft corporation established its seed investment fund back in 2010, to support Russian startups in the spheres of software and internet services. Since then, Microsoft’s seed investment fund has already supported 23 Russian projects worth more than $ 1 million. The fund is planning on supporting about 100 Russian startups with financial support and expertise in the next ten years.
